Karen A.
“We all have a story and sharing those stories precipitates an open dialogue of life experience that in isolation we are not able to express or share. Connections opens a path to change, growth and healing in a comfortable setting to share those experiences and challenges. It invigorates the soul.”
Karen G.
“As a doctor I saw how important good social connections were for the overall health of an individual, and that’s why Connections is a great asset for Carson City."
Jon
“I truly enjoy the Connections meetings. I have met so many interesting and engaging people, and our discussions have been quite enlightening. The meetings are a rare opportunity to connect with people I have not met before and engage with them in deep and meaningful ways.”
What To Expect at a Gathering
CONNECTIONS Gatherings offer the opportunity to meet new people, hear different perspectives, learn from and about one another, and most importantly, to have fun!
-
No reservation is required. Just show up and enjoy the Gathering.
-
Gatherings last 60 to 90 minutes.
-
You will be joining 5 to 12 people from your community, some of whom may also be attending for the first time.
-
People will be sharing stories from their life experiences and engaging in meaningful conversation. You are welcome to just sit and listen or join in when you feel like talking.
-
Each Gathering has a Facilitator. The Facilitator will:
-
Kick things off with some simple guidelines like – “We ask everyone to listen with an open-mind, and share with an open-heart. We steer away from polarizing topics, such as politics and religion. You are welcome to just listen, or jump in when you feel like it.”
-
Go around the table and have everyone share their first name
-
Present three topics/ questions as options for the conversation. The group votes on their favorite.
-
-
Then the conversation begins!
