CONNECTIONS is Growing - New Gatherings, Locations, Dates

3 min read

A ripple effect is happening at CONNECTIONS—and it is growing from the conversations themselves. Someone comes to a CONNECTIONS Gathering and shares a story about their life. They listen to someone else’s experience. They laugh, learn something new, or hear a perspective they hadn't considered before. They mention it to a friend, a family member, a neighbor, or a coworker. Someone else becomes curious and decides to come to a Gathering. And the ripple continues.

The result? CONNECTIONS is growing—with more people, more stories, new dates, and new locations. But perhaps most importantly, we are hearing from participants about the positive impact these conversations are having on their lives.

The stories people share with us are heartfelt. They tell us about feeling more connected, more engaged, more comfortable talking with others, and simply enjoying life a little more.

That is the ripple effect we hoped CONNECTIONS could create.

Growing Through Partnership with Washoe County Library System

In September, we began a partnership with the Washoe County Library System, and we are thrilled about the possibilities. Libraries have always been places where people come to learn, discover, and connect with their communities. CONNECTIONS adds another dimension: a place where people can put down their phones, sit across from one another, and share experiences and stories.

We are excited to see where this partnership takes us—and how many more people we can introduce to the simple power of meaningful conversation.

CONNECTIONS Gathering for Millennials

Beginning in January 2027, CONNECTIONS Central and Sierra View Library are working together to create a Gathering specifically for Millennials. The idea is simple: create a welcoming place for people from the same generation to meet, share experiences, laugh, listen, learn from one another, and discover what they have in common—and perhaps what they don't.

Millennials have grown up in a world filled with digital communication, social media, texting, and online communities. They may communicate with people all day long, yet still have fewer opportunities for relaxed, face-to-face conversations where phones are put away and people are truly present with one another.

CONNECTIONS Is Coming to Dignity Health in Southern Nevada

This month marks another exciting step in the growth of CONNECTIONS. New CONNECTIONS Facilitators are being trained in Southern Nevada, where the program will begin in several Dignity Health hospitals and wellness centers.

This expansion is especially meaningful because it brings the CONNECTIONS experience into healthcare setting. When people intentionally come together to hear each other’s life experiences and thoughts, they connect at a deeper level. Through these gatherings, attendees can improve not only their social health, but also their mental health, physical health, and overall wellbeing.

Check the CONNECTIONS Central website for dates, times, and locations.

Spanish-Speaking CONNECTIONS at the Reno Senior Center

A Spanish-speaking CONNECTIONS Gathering is now being offered at the Reno Senior Center on the second Tuesday of each month from 10:00-11:30 am. Over the past two months, the group has been steadily growing, thanks to Magali’s warm and skilled facilitation.

By Participating and Spreading the Word – You Can Make a Difference

When we attend a CONNECTIONS Gathering, we have the opportunity to hear stories from people in our community and to share our own. We may discover something new about them, or even about ourselves. And sometimes, we discover that we have more in common than we realized. That is how the ripple begins. When we share our experience with others and invite them to join us, the ripple continues to grow. More people connect, more stories are shared, and communities become stronger.

This is how individuals thrive and communities strengthen.

Come join the conversation or just listen to others as they share their stories.

Everyone is Welcome!
